West Maui

West Maui Real Estate for Sale

Oceanfront vistas with the most spectacular views of the world famous Maui sunset is just one of the many qualities which define the area of West Maui.

A virtual world from the rest of the island, the journey to West Maui begins with a drive on the edge of the West Maui Mountains. A fantastic precursor to what is to come, cruising down Honoapiilani Hwy. on your way to the West affords amazing views of the deep blue Pacific ocean leading out to the islands of Molokai and Lanai throughout your entire journey. As you pass the sleepy residential town of Olowalu you'll soon find yourself at the very beginning of the heart of West Maui: the historic town of Lahaina.

Lahaina

Steeped in a provenance which leads back for generations, Lahaina has been many things over the years: The seat of government for the entire Hawaiian kingdom during the reign of King Kamehameha, an important port of call for sailors during the heyday of the whalers, an essential sugar plantation area a few decades back, and most recently, the place to be for those seeking the quintessential island lifestyle. From sailors to plantation employees, Lahaina has grown throughout the years with a multifaceted, multi-cultural influence found in virtually every aspect of this wonderful seaside town.

For example: as you enter Lahaina, the very first thing you will notice is a very large smoke stack rising high into the West Maui skyline. A relic from the towns booming sugar plantation days, the Lahaina Smokestack now sits dormant yet fully restored to its former glory; a reminder of the large role sugar cane, and those who harvested it, played in shaping the Lahaina of today. Venture down the road a bit towards the ocean, and you will find yourself in the middle of another famous West Maui landmark: the historical Front Street. Known for its eclectic mix of art galleries, gift shops, and delicious eateries, if you are in the mood for a bit of boutique hopping, delicious eats, and fun day or night, Front Street is the place to be. This is also where the "Mardi Gras of the Pacific" takes place every year on Halloween; so mark your calendars now!

Further into town you will come to find a mix of shopping centers, more great diners serving food from all around the world, and number of Oceanside hideaways great for enjoying the calming sounds of the ocean. As your journey continues, malls give way to waterfront resorts and condominiums, signaling you have exited Lahaina and entered the wonderful area of Kaanapali.

Kaanapali

Known to have one of the best stretches of beach in the world (an honor bestowed by many a travel pundit) fronted by beautiful resorts, condos, and golf courses, Kaanapali offers a relaxing experience for visitors and residents alike. With no shortage of places to rent or buy in this wonderful resort town, such great waterfront condos including The Whaler, Mahana, Kaanapali Alii, and Honua Kai, Kaanapali offers many opportunities to enjoy its laid back atmosphere and Hawaiian style living, perfect for watching a fiery Maui sunset or the amazing Humpback whales breaching offshore, all year round. As a bonus, the fantastic upscale boutiques and restaurants of Whalers Village are just moments away from many of the great accommodations throughout Kaanapali.

Napili, Kapalua

Further past Kaanapali, you will find the serene residential neighborhood of Napili offering quiet, peaceful West side comforts, with the ultimate in island luxury living right next door in fabulous Kapalua. In Kapalua, exclusive multi-million dollar homes and condominiums sit atop world class golf courses (one being, the Plantation Course, which is home to the PGA Tour opening tournament) stretch far across the slopes of the West Maui Mountains and out towards the exquisite sands of Kapalua Bay. Explore Kapalua's cool climate and you will also find upscale spa, resort, and fine dining experiences and activities throughout.

Capping off the West Maui experience; take a 5 minute drive from Kapalua to the pristine waters of Mokuleia Bay. Park on the roadside and hike down the stepped trail into the bay to find a large, semi-secluded beach with lots of white sand to lounge about. Visit during the winter months and you'll be treated to highly sought after waves perfect for the experienced surfer. Return in the summer time for a much calmer ocean experience, great for snorkeling and enjoying Maui's refreshingly warm waters.

There is so much to enjoy in West Maui that to take it all in, would require much time. So why not consider a move to a fantastic Kaanapali condo and enjoy West Maui whenever you want!
